My introduction

Hi all, I’ve had this blog for a fairly short time, though here of late I’ve been writing in it a lot more. I created this DW only intending to write about music-related things. However, I’ve realized that I love writing about any sort of media that impacts me. I’ve also written some things about living with disabilities here too, and will probably continue doing so. I’ve also written about my healing journey as it relates to healing from horrific childhood abuse/assorted big T and little T traumas. I love all kinds of music from EDM (Electronic Dance Music) to R&B, to latin pop, to rock n roll and rap. I am a feminist, as well as a non-conformist by nature. I’m proudly a member of the LGBTQ+ community. I suppose that’s a good enough introduction for now :)

Name: Hi, I'm Nicole (she/her).

Age: early 40s

I mostly post about: As my journal title says, "to spit out all the butt-ends of my days and ways," (from T.S. Eliot's The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock, one of my favorite poems). I've been keeping a fairly regular chronicle of my life since the early days of the internet. I had paper journals before then, but then I found MyDearDiary, and Diaryland, and then . . . Livejournal. I was there for the latter's heyday and after; I only recently stopped cross-posting there about a year ago. So, not new to this journaling thing, although some of the more experimental ways I've written have fallen by the wayside in favor of a more regular narrative flow. So, yes, mostly daily life stuff, with a sprinkling of pictures and questionnaires here and there.

My hobbies are: Reading is my main one, although to me it's more like breathing than a hobby. I enjoy cooking and baking. I want to get back into writing, but general life and medical issues have kind of put a damper on this for now. I want to learn to use my camera better. I like video games, mainly of the platformer or puzzle variety; or something cozy (I'm really enjoying the Zero Escape games right now, and pondering purchasing Tiny Bookshop).

My fandoms are: I'm not really a fandom person. I like a lot of things, but I don't think they quite rise to the level of fandom.

I'm looking to meet people who: post about their daily lives, what they are thinking about, what they like to do in their free time. I'm not on much social media anymore, so this is it. And I always did prefer the longer types of posting, hearkening back to the "slower internet," if you will, where we didn't have to think in a pithy 140 characters or what-have-you.

My posting schedule tends to be: I was trying to stick to daily, but I don't always make it there. I do try to post at least once weekly.

When I add people, my dealbreakers are: The standard -isms and -phobias are not welcome; nor are folks who are pro-MAGA (and claim they're not -ist and -phobic). Yes, there are differences of opinion, but those are things like pizza toppings and which is the best ice cream flavor, not things that will get people killed.

Before adding me, you should know: I try to comment when possible, but I always read. Same goes for you; you don't have to comment on everything, but please feel free to say something if an entry speaks to you or you want to start a conversation. Once I add you, I have a longer introduction post behind a friends-lock if you want to know more about me - I know it's hard to jump in the middle of someone's life who's been at this for awhile :-)

Name: Sarah, but you can also call me Paperlady (or any nickname you like).

Age: 19 (turning 20 in November).

Location / Timezone: UTC+3.

I mostly post about:
Life updates, reflections, and general diary-type entries. I’m hoping to use Dreamwidth as a way to slow down, read more, and improve my writing through conversations and entries. Expect book notes, film thoughts, and sometimes just little pieces of my day. My posting schedule will probably be all over the place — sometimes a lot at once, sometimes nothing for a bit, and occasionally a steady routine when I get into a groove.

My hobbies are:
Baking, playing guitar, journaling, photography, sometimes art and editing. I love discovering new music and I get a little too invested in my playlists. I’m also trying to get deeper into reading and writing.

My fandoms / media loves are:
Coming-of-age stories, slow romances, and movies that ache in quiet ways (Before Sunrise, Only You, Romeo + Juliet 1996, etc.). Been getting into poetry (Rilke, Mary Oliver, Patti Smith) and a mix of alternative/indie music — Jeff Buckley, Radiohead, The Strokes, Smashing pumpkins, The Killers, etc.

I’m looking to meet people who:
Like exchanging thoughts and snippets of daily life, who enjoy books, films, and music, and who are here for conversation.

My posting schedule tends to be:
Erratic, distracted, then obsessed. Probably a couple times a week when I’m consistent.

Before adding me, you should know:
I deal with some anxiety when it comes to talking, but I’m hoping this space helps me through that. I don’t post anything graphic, though some of the media I love touches on heavier themes like heartbreak, mental health, or loss.

Dealbreakers:
I’m not interested in anyone who puts others down for who they are, cruelty, or being dismissive.

I spotted these cuties on the shore of Lake Champlain.

three small brown and white shorebirds with black collars stand on a muddy lakeshore

Semipalmated Plovers breed in Alaska and northern Canada, and winter on the sea coast in the lower US, the Caribbean, and South America. During migration they can be seen just about anywhere in North America.

Here's the plan: every Friday, let's recommend some people and/or communities to follow on Dreamwidth. That's it. No complicated rules, no "pass this on to 7.328 friends or your cat will die".

hey yall.

I mostly post about: My personal life, mental health, game reviews, book reviews, movie reviews, and other stuff. I am also working on a furry fantasy novel that I hope to finish typing up one of these days--I already have it written out in seven or so notebooks.

My hobbies are: AI furry art, reading, writing, video games

My fandoms are: I was heavily into the furry fandom and AI furry art communities but had several falling outs with the former ages ago and the latter recently that led to me leaving social media, but I still enjoy doing them.

I'm looking to meet people who: Comfort me when I'm in need, make insightful commentary on my entries, appreciate my unique autistic perspective.

My posting schedule tends to be: At least once every few days.

When I add people, my dealbreakers are: I am very somewhat ideologically sensitive as politics has broken tons of my past friendships.

Before adding me, you should know: I am autistic and very PTSD, damaged from 18 years of psychiatric medications. Read my sticky post to learn more.

Moontime began around noon today. Cramps were significantly less than last time, so the ayurvedic medicine I've been taking (a combination of ashokarishta and lodhrasava) is doing its thing. Last month I was obsessing over Nushu period panties. I've been pimping the Nushu Hiphugger to anyone and everyone when the topic of periods comes up, and someone I recced it to has become as much of a fan as I am:

I replied with my original post saying I'm the one who recced it, and this was her response (she @/ed me and I redacted my full name although you'll know it if you know my debut novel/have been around my blog long enough lol)

I'm not being dramatic when I say my life has changed. I could never wear a period product for four to six hours in one go without overflowing, before. My life has changed so much that I went out with Bella (who is here briefly) for brunch. We had congee and pancakes! And after we came back to my house to spend the day coworking. I even dropped her back home, despite that taking a couple of hours. I used to never be able to go out on my period.

This morning, it was cool. Cool enough I could open up all the windows and get a cross-breeze... There are a couple of warmer days later in the week, but they'll be survivable. And then, possibly, that'll be it for the too-hot of the year? I can hope.

I started playing Fire Emblem Heroes again because after eight-and-a-half-years they finally kinda put in a unit for one of the original cast. Turns out the game is taking care of a lizard-brain need to click things that had been unfulfilled lately, and sure, I'll go with this. I don't care about the story so I can just skip through, level folks, and whatever happens?

Finished up a non-Gundam kit over the weekend. I've just been calling him Red Dude, but technically he's a Sword Shadow. There's also a green one, who is also a Sword Shadow despite having guns instead? Since they're red and green, [personal profile] taichara pointed out they can be Cain and Abel from the first Fire Emblem game and now I'll need to get the green one.

Working on the ExCreR that I got a month or so ago. It's a SD-styled kit even though there's art in the manual of a non-SD version... It's a bit of a brick, and the places in the manual where it says 'cut the pins if tight' - just cut the pins in advance, self. I broke almost every pin in the waist and had to glue it. ^^;; (Not a huge deal. Glue happens, especially on non-Bandai kits.)

Also finished the first two seasons of Natsume's Book of Friends. I had read a good chunk of the series through the library and should get back to that...

Thank you to folks who've sent postcards and whatnot lately! (Several have vanished into my work bag, which needs a good clean.)

M, Boycritter, & I went down for the local-enough Gunpla Builders World Cup event, which was about an hour away. Getting there was fairly straightforward, and we had time to look around the hobby store it was being held at. (And will be returning to, they had many things!)

Lots of fun conversations in the car (it has been awhile), and the actual Gundam models on display were all fantastic. (We actually got asked to help judge if we wanted to but there was no way - I thought they all had something truly great about them.) Aside from the modelers, the audience was the three of us + one other guy who knew the modelers, but we were delightfully enthusiastic and the store owners were great, too. A lot of fun. There were extra Participant pins, so we each were given one. (I'm also fairly sure I promised to bring an entry next year, so I guess I have four months to plan something and another eight to make it? Or something like that?)

We left and had to take a somewhat meandering route back, because road construction, and also having to cross Woodward on Dream Cruise weekend. But we did get to see a lot of cool cars at various points, including a Datsun, a yellow VW Beetle, a VW Bus, etc. Lots of yellow cars, which made for a lively game of Yellow Car. We also saw a Cybertruck and all burst out laughing because nothing could make that design salvageable.

Stopped at... a conveyor sushi restaurant! AMAZING! I had no idea there was one in reasonable distance (possibly that there were any in the US, tbh) and we had a blast. Ate ourselves stuffed because there were so many things we wanted to try. A++ would do it again when properly budgeted for.

All around fantastic day, though we didn't get back til ~3pm and I didn't get to sleep til after 4pm. Definitely going to have to do some mad science to get back on schedule.

I ended up snagging 00 Gundam + XN Raiser which I heartily debated on until 'weird 00 sidestory shit' won out. Also a 30MM Spinatio, HG Command Quanta, and MG Shenlong because that kit has been following me around for weeks now. And some accessories including a pack of little metal HO-Scale gravestones that will need some work and me learning how to trim up metal. ;_;

I should immediately add that although we did see whales, I was not able to get any pics of them! Unfortunately the boat, which was not that large, was rocking too much to focus and the whales came and went too quickly even for the camera phone. Did catch the sea lions on the buoys but not even the ones briefly following us out of the docks as they were there and gone too quickly.
